Full level playthrough
This is a 2D platformer level designed by me, as well as the tile map sprites drawn by me. It is inspired by earlier levels in Mario games, specifically 'New Super Mario Bros U Delux'. In designing a level and tile map based on the classic platformer series, I practiced the most important fundamentals of both level design and sprite creation.

This is a 2D platformer level designed by me, as well as the tile map sprites drawn by me. It is inspired by earlier levels in Mario games, specifically 'New Super Mario Bros U Delux'. In designing a level and tile map based on the classic platformer series, I practiced the most important fundamentals of both level design and sprite creation.

In researching the inspiration, I created multiple diagrams and a beatmap to describe how the traditional Mario level flows, in order to match the feel in my own level.

To make the new sprites for the level I used Krita and a Huion GT-220 tablet. I used unity and the 'Level Design Playground 2D' by StefDevs on Itch.io for the creation tools.

After creating the level and the tile assets, I have a better understanding of both sprite design and classic platformer levels. I'm very interested in doing more sprite art in the future, as I feel I've only scratched the surface of what I can do with it.
